Assam's 'wonder boy'! The jewel of Rajasthan Royals, Riyan Parag is a well-known name in domestic cricket. IPL has seen his Bihu, this time Ranji scored twelve (12) sixes in the record century! His name is pronounced with Sir Vivian Richards.

Rishabh Pant's record was saved. However, Sir Viv Richards could not keep his record intact. Courtesy Riyan Parag's explosive century. Although the captain of Assam, he is known in Indian cricket for playing for Rajasthan Royals.

Riyan is often trolled on social media for not being able to perform consistently. But he showed once again that the day his bat goes on, the role of the opponent will be like a silent spectator. But this time, 22-year-old Riyan silenced the detractors by responding with the bat on the stage of Ranji Trophy (Ranji Trophy 2023-24). Riyan conquered domestic cricket last year as well. Riyan Parag is yet to play in any format in the country's jersey. But the young cricketer is waiting for the opportunity.

However, the former West Indies captain could not be contained in the second (2nd) innings. He was unbeaten on 110 runs off just 58 balls. Richards scored a 56-ball hundred in that unbeaten innings. This time, Riyan touched Viv with a 56-ball hundred.

The second fastest century in Ranji Trophy history

Twenty two (22)-year-old all-rounder Riyan Parag, who played for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, completed his century off just 56 balls. He completed the century with 7 fours and 7 sixes. This is the second (2nd) fastest century in Ranji Trophy history. Rishabh holds the record for fastest century. Pant scored a century in just forty eight (48) balls against Jharkhand. Riyan's bat did not stop here. He completed 150 runs in 83 balls. Riyan returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 155 runs off Eighty Seven (87) balls. He hit 12 sixes and 11 fours in his innings.

Riyan, however, could not break the record set by Rishabh Pant. Rishabh scored a 48-ball century in 2016 in Ranji for Jharkhand. That is the fastest century in Ranji history. Riyan made this record as the second fastest century. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 135 runs off 67 balls in the match against Delhi.

Assam vs Chhattisgarh Match Summary

Chhattisgarh had earlier batted for 327. In reply, Assam's first (1st) innings ended with just 159 runs in the first innings. Captain Riyan was out for just 8 runs. But Riyan batted devastatingly after getting down to follow-on. He scored 155 runs off just Eighty Seven (87) balls. Hit 11 fours and 12 sixes. Strike rate 178.16. However, the last defense did not happen. Chhattisgarh's target stood at Eighty Seven (87) to be bowled out for an uneven 254 in the second innings. Chhattisgarh won the match by chasing that run by ten (10) wickets.  But in any case, even though the team lost, Riyan made history.

Riyan has not been in form recently. There was doubt whether Rajasthan will keep him in IPL this time. Only time will tell if Riyan Parag's fortunes will finally change after his scintillating innings.
